Erklärung

A peasant household was a working partnership, and the tasks that fell to women ran from the yard and the garden out to the harvest field, where every pair of hands was needed in the same few weeks. The picture of women confined indoors is the closest trap, because household work was indeed their responsibility, yet it sat alongside field and animal work rather than taking its place.
