Every inductor has distributed capacitance between its turns, and above the self-resonant frequency that capacitance dominates, so the part presents a capacitive rather than an inductive reactance. Nothing breaks and no harmonics are generated by operating there, but the component no longer does the job an inductor is meant to do.
