When selecting a CW transmitting frequency, what minimum separation from other stations should be used to minimize interference to stations on adjacent frequencies?

A hand-sent CW signal is only a couple of hundred hertz wide, so 150 to 500 Hz is enough to clear the adjacent station's receiver passband while still fitting many contacts into the CW segment. Spacing under about 100 Hz lands inside the other station's filter.
