Amateur AM fast-scan TV uses the same analog NTSC signal format as former broadcast television, whose channel allotment is 6 MHz wide, carrying the video sidebands plus the sound subcarrier. That is why fast-scan TV is confined to the UHF and higher bands, where 6 MHz of spectrum is available.
