This topic asks how a station is powered and wired, where an instrument belongs, and which control owns which symptom. The questions look like a catalogue of details, but they fall out of three chains.

Three chains, walked in order

The first chain is direct current. What a transmitter demands is amperes: the voltage is just the one the radio was built around, and a supply or battery is chosen by the transmit current. Resistance in that loop turns those amperes into voltage lost before the radio, and the return side carries the same current, so both are treated alike. Endurance follows: ampere-hours over average current drawn, t ≈ Ah ÷ Iavg. At radio frequencies the same wiring is judged by inductance, not by resistance alone.

The second chain carries radio-frequency energy along the feed line to the antenna, the only place forward power and the standing-wave ratio exist at all; an instrument reading either belongs in that line, built for a stated span of frequency and power. The third chain is audio, both ways between radio and computer for data modes: software makes and decodes the tones, so the interface carries received audio inward, generated audio outward and a keying line. Wire it by direction, an output meeting an input.
