A route number appears in brackets on a direction sign. What do the brackets mean?
The numbered road is reached by following the indicated route.✓Bonne réponse
The driver is already travelling on the numbered road.
The numbered road is closed and must be avoided.
The route number applies only to heavy goods vehicles.
Explication
Brackets show that the signed route leads to the numbered road rather than placing the driver on it immediately. Reading the bracketed number as the current road would confuse a reached-later route with the route under the vehicle.
