Istanbul is Türkiye's largest city and a former imperial capital. Which city is the present national capital?

Explication

Ankara is Türkiye's present national capital, while Istanbul is its largest city. Istanbul's imperial history makes it especially plausible, but that former role does not override the current national-capital assignment.
