Latency is the delay between an action and its effect, which in a remotely controlled station covers the network transport, buffering and coding time between the operator pressing a key and the transmitted signal changing. Jitter is the variation in that delay, hang time is the drop-out delay of a repeater, and anti-VOX keeps receiver audio from keying the transmitter.
