If traffic through the railway crossing is prohibited and there are no traffic lights, road signs and markings, the driver must stop:

When a barrier is present and no other control specifies the waiting point, the vehicle must stop no nearer than 5 m before that barrier. Waiting only 3 m away or directly beside it would leave less than the required safety space.
