Why are switching amplifiers more efficient than linear amplifiers?

  1. Switching amplifiers operate at higher voltages
  2. The switching device is at saturation or cutoff most of the timeПравильный ответ
  3. Linear amplifiers have high gain resulting in higher harmonic content
  4. Switching amplifiers use push-pull circuits

Объяснение

Device dissipation is the product of the voltage across the device and the current through it. A switching device is either saturated, with high current but very little voltage across it, or cut off, with full voltage but almost no current, so appreciable power is lost only during the brief transitions.
