These questions ask for present national capitals and also test whether you notice a provincial or historical role. Use a western spine and an eastern-to-inland chain, then read the level and time period before recalling a city.
Build two routes and one role check
For the western spine, travel from Colombia–Bogotá through Ecuador–Quito and Peru–Lima to Chile–Santiago. On the eastern-to-inland chain, begin with Venezuela–Caracas, cross the Guianas as Guyana–Georgetown and Suriname–Paramaribo, continue through Argentina–Buenos Aires and Uruguay–Montevideo, then turn inland to Paraguay–Asunción. The two Guianas are a useful hinge: Georgetown comes before Paramaribo when travelling west to east.
